Here’s where we actually recommend proposing in Chicago, and why.

Why we lean indoor (and you should too)

Here’s something we tell every couple: in Chicago, the venue can make or break the moment. We lean toward indoor settings — steakhouses, a private room in a high-rise like LondonHouse, ballrooms and rooftop lounges — because they give us full control over privacy, lighting and that jaw-drop wow factor, with none of the parking, permit or crowd headaches. If you have your heart set on outdoors, our go-to is North Avenue Beach for the skyline view without the chaos. We gently steer couples away from packed spots like Navy Pier or the Adler, where crowds and parking can quietly sabotage the surprise.

1. A private room in a high-rise (like LondonHouse)

This is our favorite. You get the Chicago skyline through floor-to-ceiling windows, total privacy, and a climate-controlled space we can transform into a glowing scene. Hotels and high-rises like LondonHouse give you the “wow” of a rooftop with none of the wind, crowds or parking stress.

2. A steakhouse or upscale restaurant

Romantic, intimate, and dinner is built right in. Many couples love proposing in a private dining room, then celebrating over their first meal as an engaged couple.

Perfect if you want to go big — or fold the proposal into a surprise party with family and friends waiting.

5. Your home (don’t underestimate it)

6. The one outdoor spot we love: North Avenue Beach

If your heart is set on outdoors, this is the one. North Avenue Beach gives you that gorgeous skyline-over-the-water view without the chaos of the more touristy lakefront spots. It’s our go-to outdoor setup.

A note on the “famous” spots

We get asked about Navy Pier, the Adler Planetarium and the area near Soldier Field a lot. They’re iconic — but they’re also packed, there’s often an event going on, and parking can be a nightmare right when you need everything to go smoothly.
